Musings

I'm a real simple person. It doesn't take a lot to make me happy. I enjoy life's simple pleasures. I'm family-oriented. I like spending time with my family, be it at home or out, I love being around the people who really matter to me.. I've always LOVED traveling, be it long road trips or impossibly long air flights. I've been to quite a few countries, the US (both Mainland and Hawaii), Mexico, Venezuela, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, and just recently Australia. Next on my "to-go list" is Greece, New Zealand, India, China, Egypt, and France. I am deeply enamored by diverse cultures, in fact both my son and I can be considered children of the third culture (look it up if you don't know what that is), I like exotic food, world art, and world history. I love Asia Pacific the best though, not because I'm from there mind you, but because Asian culture is more diverse and exotic in nature than that of the Western world. I will admit though that I do enjoy all the perks and benefits of the Western world's advanced technology and way of life. Hmm what else, I LOVE anything that has to do with food (don't we all), trying new restaurants, sampling new dishes and attempting to do them at home. It really relaxes me. (Asian food is the absoulute best in my opinion.) SHOPPING IS THERAPY (well, I'm a girl - duh). I can spend quite a number of hours looking at girly stuff. I think that DFS Airport shops are the absolute best! You can pretty much find everything there without the tax (hehe). I can be a big shopper, especially if it's something I really like. Generally though, I consider myself to be a cheapskate. Well, there' so much more that I can write... Simply put, I'm pretty simple, laid back and easygoing. I have a wealth of experience that I can share with my friends and that's how I learn as well - from the experiences of others. I of course, just want to live a better life, and give my son the royal life that he deserves...

Parar de ser mau para mim

Gostaria apenas se voce jogou justo. Mas simplesmente nao jogar limpo em tudo.

(Okay that's about as much Portuguese I can muster as of this point.)

I love the sound of spoken Portuguese. It's warm, not as soft as Spanish, French or Filipino, but whimsical enough to make you turn your head and listen closely.

I'm picking up some words while I'm here, but hardly anything that I could even converse with. It's been great being here and working with them. They're very laid back, and pleasant to be around.

Sigh, so going back to my 1st sentence above.. it's me venting (in my own little space) about this person who makes it a life goal to make life difficult for me. If that person was a little bit more pleasant, I would be a little nicer, but since being snide apparently is the new polite nowadays..

It's so not even worth it.

The people who are not nice are the ones who need 'nice' the most. It is difficult to be nice to those who seem always to be on the edge of a negative emotion, but they are the ones who should be tempered with the positive. Your kind words will smooth out their roughness, and calm them into 'understanding'.

People can be mean when they are not understood. It can be really annoying and you just have to live with it, not put up with it though. It's even worse when you work with them.
